American Sport’s Need a “Kick Racism Out” Campaign
Americans have decried soccer’s “kick Racism out of football” campaign. Even here on LGF, pages exist criticizing it as ineffective, overwrought. and immoral.
However, it has become increasingly clear - America, and by extension, its professional sports, has a very serious problem with a significant racist bent.
America has a race problem. This fact gets shouted down by both bigots, and those who see themselves as moderates, and see holding racists accountable as a problem.
However, this country does have a very serious race problem. It’s professional sports are not the source of the problem, they are a symptom of the same disease.
U.S. sports, and America in general needs a “kick out racism campaign” and it needs it now.
To waffle on this, to claim this problem does not need a very painful and public campaign to combat it - is to to allow the denial of human dignity to those groups targeted by such bigotry to continue unabated- African Americans, ethnic groups such as Mexicans and Muslims, gender and sexuality minorities such as homosexuals and transsexuals.
To do nothing is not enough. To claim there is no problem is not enough. To point at other, foreign systems as problematic when they face the issues head on, unlike us, is reprehensible.
It is time to kick racism and bigotry out of the United States of America. It is time we held ourselves to a higher standard.
Enough is Enough.
